The Final Mosquito Solution

We must kill them. We must incinerate them.

– Colonel Kurtz, Apocalypse Now

Is there anything fun about mosquitos? Can’t think of it if there is. The closer you look at a mosquito the more angry and dangerous it looks. Mosquitos cause people to die, when they contract malaria or dengue fever. But even the much less lethal aspect of living with mozzies which applies to my life isn’t good. Not at all, in any way.

And now they are worse than ever, in larger numbers, and having apparently developed an instinct for unpleasantness to a sharper, less forgiving and more efficient kind of nasty. It’s like they’ve been training.

I’ve just been bitten. A lot. Again. And I don’t like it at all. Not one bit.

While I tend to think that spraying fly spray has limited utility, and just adds extra chemicals to the air I’m trying to breathe, I don’t think I have an issue with spraying mozzies. Even in a spraying in case any more come along later, and it’ll kill them as well sort of strategy. I want them out of my life. And if it requires engaging separatists from Ingushetia to wipe them all away, that doesn’t seem like too over the top.
