Making Things Better

Sometimes it’s hard when you look around and see the preponderance of morons in the world and recognise how happy they are, how unaware and how happy, and you aren’t happy and you are aware and the knowledge of what could happen and what will happen and what probably won’t happen but might is palpable, and it feels hard: life seems hard inversely proportionate to how easy it seems for other people – in fact life seems hard because of the blithe attitude of other people who fret about reality TV and are impatient about acquiring the latest iPhone, and it’s as if that dichotomy between the people with the warped priorities and the people with your priorities, which, let’s face it, is pretty much just you, is enough to generate and sustain the frustration you feel and the feelings of impotence and rage and incomprehension, albeit in small doses, and what it really all means is the people out there – other people, with their individual desires and ambitions – they are what is causing the disquiet in your soul. If you could pretend they weren’t there and live in studied isolation from them things would be better: you’d be happier, and that’s all anyone has any right to ask for.
